Petit Train Route

If you like cycling with the little ones at home, almost at the door of the Camping Relax-Nat passes one of the easiest and most accessible greenways in the Costa Brava, for cyclists of all levels: the Petit Train Route.

This itinerary, which connects Palamós and Palafrugell, is 6 kilometers long and passes only 100 meters from Camping Relax-Nat. If you have left your bike at home, no problem! You can rent them at the same campsite.

The layout of the Petit Train Route it is called like this because it runs through part of the route of the “petit train” tram train that formerly connected Palamós with Girona passing through La Bisbal d'Empordà. The maiden voyage was on March 23, 1887, and it was driven by a Belgian steam locomotive pulling tiny wagons.

Today, the road buries a part of what had been the railroad, but the section converted into a greenway covers almost the same route and passes through the municipalities of Palamós, Mont-ras and Palafrugell, with a branch to Vall- llòbrega. Along the way, it crosses the agricultural plain of the Aubí River surrounded by the reliefs of the Gavarres massif and the Begur mountains. A 100% natural landscape with bridges and picturesque corners that you can enjoy at your own pace.

We suggest you extend the route just one kilometer to combine the bike ride with a swim at Es Castell beach, which also has services such as a bar, rental of umbrellas and sunbeds, and also kayaks for excursions.

The Petit Train Route It is very well signposted and the difficulty of the route is minimal, with a slope of only 1% and a floor and cement pavement that makes it easy even for children.
