Protected areas
The Empordà is located in a privileged area within the Mediterranean: in the same territory you can enjoy many different ecosystems. If you feel like taking a day out, just an hour’s walk away you can visit fantastic places such as the Cap de Creus Natural Park or the Pyrenees, with their emblematic villages and corners.
Closer, you can stroll through the Aiguamolls de l’Alt and Baix Empordà Natural Park, a unique space in Europe for lovers of ornithology.
And if you want to live and see the Mediterranean in all its splendour, next to the campsite you will find the Marine Nature Reserve of the Medes Islands or you can also visit the mountains of Les Gavarres, a gift for the senses and a must-visit for lovers of sports and hiking; Can you imagine the feeling of being able to walk in the Mediterranean and look at the snow-covered Pyrenees?
And as if all of this weren’t enough, traveling on the Costa Brava is synonymous with coves and hiking trails. Would you be able to know the ones below? Have you been there already? Don’t hesitate any longer and grab your backpack: at Camping Relax-Nat we will help you fill it with nature and unforgettable moments.

Les Gavarres
Les Gavarres are an example of Mediterranean forest and vegetation. Characterized by a first shrub layer of heather and steppes and a second tree layer of different types of pine: white pines (Pinus halepensis),
pine trees (Pinus pinea) and Scots pine (Pinus pinaster); would you be able to differentiate them?
If you don’t know, keep reading and we’ll tell you some little tricks.

However, if there is one species characteristic of Les Gavarres that has impacted and marked the lives of generations of Empordà people, it is, without a doubt, the cork oak (Quercus suber).
Few places like Palafrugell have reached the almost perfect symbiosis between man and trees in order to extract a resource as precious as cork.
In Les Gavarres and in the Relax-Nat campsite we also find a large number of birds, how do we recognize some of them?
